Orange County Department on Aging
The Orange County Department on Aging (OCDOA) is a resource for older adults and caregivers. OCDOA offers integrated services and programs at two senior centers including wellness and education classes, lunches, trips and volunteer opportunities.
Their mission is to provide leadership in services for the aged. They have state-of-the-art senior centers that serve as focal points for programs designed to educate seniors and their families.Read more about the Department on Aging.
East Chapel Hill Rotary Club
East Chapel Hill Rotary is supporting our project with funding and various in-kind services. ECRC is a service organization consisting of over 130 members. The club is built on the principle of "service above self" as evidenced through our service to a variety of local, national and international projects. The club meets every Friday at 1:00 pm at the Hotel Sheraton in Chapel Hill.
Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Acorn provides highly-screened caregivers for loved ones that need care at home. Acorn received a Long Term Care Service Quality Award from the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
Both owners are Qualified Dementia Care Specialists. In 2014, Acorn founder, Lorenzo Mejia, was named the Dementia Care Professional of the Year by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (a national recognition).Read more here.
